Are You Happy With The Person In The Mirror?

Let me ask you something: When was the last time you looked in the mirror and felt truly happy about who was looking back at you?

Was it today? Last week? Last month? Last year? Or was it so far back you can remember playing on the playground and winning a game of handball?

If you look at yourself and feel shame, guilt, despair, humiliation, anxiety, depression or anything that isn’t positive then it is probably an indication you’ve got a MAJOR self-image problem. And I bet it’s something that has kept you from doing a lot of things with your life… mainly living it!

Lack of confidence in oneself is the leading reason why you haven’t accomplished what you want in life. Lack of confidence will generate fear. And that fear is holding you back in more ways than you ever thought possible.

How do I know? Because I lived like that most of my life and have only recently discovered how crippling that fear was.

Hi, I’m George Scott. I used to be like many of you. I used to live under a rock… well not literally, but it sure felt like it sometimes. All my life I felt like I wasn’t worth it. Like I didn’t deserve things that I wanted. I wasn’t good enough to do or be something. And it was terrible!

My entire life I felt like a turtle hiding in it’s shell. I would peak my head out once in awhile but then scurry back in. And you know what? I was even too ashamed to admit it to anyone. I was a major introvert.

I can tell you that it was painfully obvious to everyone who saw me. I mostly kept to myself. I wouldn’t make eye contact when talking to people: friends, family, co-workers, bystanders. They would see my nervous smile, my stooped posture and would know instantly that I was a recluse.

I felt like everyone was above me, like life was so easy for them, so why not me? I can guarantee you this: I made life harder for myself.

That’s right me. Not my boss. Not the guy who gave me a strange look at the bus stop. Not any of the hundreds of people I’d pass by throughout the day. Just me.

“But my boss is too hard on me, my landlord keeps threatening to evict me, the bus splashed mud all over my pants, my nose is too big, and the world is out to get me!”

Trust me. I used to feel the same way.

When I was a kid I got bullied. I never got a promotion at any of my jobs. And I was too terrified to talk to girls until my early twenties! I was pathetic.

I felt like people were laughing at my appearance, mocking my stutter, and generally putting me down. Like the whole world was judging me. It made me feel little. So I sulked and hid as much as I could.

And you know what? I had people tell me I was smart, good looking, and capable of doing whatever I wanted (no, not just my mom). But I was so weary of everyone around me that I thought that they were mocking me instead of complimenting me. I just couldn’t accept what they were saying at face value.

I wasn’t able to look into the mirror and smile back at myself without forcing it. In short I had no self-esteem.

There are millions of people all over the world who lack self-esteem and confidence in themselves and usually suffer from depression because of it, and don’t see a way out. In fact, studies have shown 1 in 10 people suffer from clinical depression. But I’m here to tell you that there is a way out. And you know what? It’s not that hard. You just have to allow yourself to believe it.

I finally did, and it has changed my whole world for the better. And I want to help you change your life too.

Full disclosure: I ain’t no shrink. I don’t have a fancy degree in psychology. And I’m not a professional in any form of mental health. But I have overcome GREAT darkness and I want to help get you on the same path.

This is not an instant, or overnight solution to a lifetime of despair. That doesn’t exist, and if anyone tells you different they are a scam artist.

What I’ve done is document all the things that have made a difference in my view of myself and the world and if practiced regularly you will see a MASSIVE improvement in your outlook on life in a relatively short period of time.

Let me give you three BIG tips right now:

Smile. Yes smile! When you smile you instantly feel better. Try it right now. I bet you feel a little foolish, but you’re also feeling a little happier too.

Smiling is indicative of feeling good. You smile when you’re happy, so why not do it more? If you’re feeling down in the dumps, take a moment. Step back, take a deep breath, then smile. I guarantee you’ll start feeling better instantly!

When you’re by yourself just repeat these three words over and over:

“I like myself, I like myself, I like myself…”

Does that sound stupid? Maybe, but guess what? The more you say it, the more you believe it! You might start off saying it fairly weak, but you will soon realize you’re saying it stronger and stronger! (Bonus tip! When you really start believing it, change it from “I like myself” to “I LOVE myself”!). Say it in the mirror in the morning, while you’re driving to work, before you go to bed, any chance you get. I bet you’ll get a nice pick me up from it every time!

3. Now this is a heavy one. In fact it might bring you down a little at first, but it’s one of the most important things you can do… Are you ready?

YOU are responsible for everything in your life!

Let that sink in a little. You, not anyone else, just YOU are responsible for everything in your own life! You can play the blame game all you want but it all comes back to you. What the hell am I talking about?

You have ALLOWED others to dictate your life for you. YOU took every bit of criticism, comment and setback like it was an indisputable truth that you were meant to fail and let it hold you back.

Kind of humbling isn’t it.

But now that you know that you control your destiny, you can take charge and steer it in the right direction. Now take a minute, then go back and re-read tips 1 and 2.

There’s lots of both little and BIG things that can change your outlook on life. These are just three of them. I’ve got a whole lot more where that came from. And when used together the results are life altering!

It’s taken me a couple years since I started this journey to really gain the confidence I now have. I’ve read books, searched the internet, and seen some psychologists and psychiatrists. I’ve compiled the best tips, advice and knowledge into something that can literally change your LIFE!

Along with the three tips I’ve already shared, you’ll get the tools you need to:

  • To find the inner strength you never knew you had.
  • To realize you actually are as good as you think you are, if not better!
  • Find the root of your shame and fears and banish it for good!
  • Acknowledge your opinion matters.
  • To find your voice and be heard in a crowd.
  • Why you need to assert yourself.
  • Accept yourself for the great person you are.
  • How changing your posture boosts your confidence.
  • You are never too old to take control of your life.
  • The power of being grateful.
  • How to let go of your painful past.
  • Come out of your shell and engage the world.
  • Why confidence is your greatest asset.
  • The power of positive thinking.
  • Define who you are, not what you think others want you to be.
  • A powerful quick trick to clear away emotional blocks and self-limiting beliefs for good.
  • Visualize your true greatness into reality.
  • Realize your potential is limitless!

Let me present you with a couple scenarios:

Scenario 1

You wake up to your alarm and immediately fear the day. That sickening, anxious feeling in the pit of your stomach is there just like always. You walk down the street quickly, keeping your head down low, and hoping no one will notice you.

You slip into work and immediately feel like you’re being judged: “Why isn’t he working already?”, “Look at the way he’s dressed.”, “He’s such a waste, I hope they fire him”. You’re sure that’s what they’re all thinking.

You do your job and keep to yourself as much as possible. You don’t want to cause a fuss. You try not to talk to anyone if you can help it because surely you would be interrupting them, and you probably don’t have anything say that anyone would want to hear about. After all, they’re higher up the corporate food chain than you and don’t want to be bothered by an insignificant peon like yourself.

You go home to your apartment, pop in a microwave dinner, and lose yourself in fantasy for the rest of the night. You wouldn’t dare tell anyone the types of shows and movies you like for fear of being labelled more of a geek and outcast than you already are. Just keep to yourself and things might not get any worse.

You feel depressed about your life. You curl into bed and fall asleep hoping things will magically get better tomorrow. Repeat.

Does any of this sound familiar? I can tell you this is very similar to how I used to live my life. Small, insignificant, and not worth while. Pretty sad, huh? But I know I’m not the only one. It’s horrible living like that, and don’t let anyone tell you that you should! Now let’s look at a different scenario.

Scenario 2

You wake up feeling good about yourself. You walk down the street with your head up high. You don’t even care what passers by *might* possibly be thinking about you because they are not actually thinking anything about you and it doesn’t matter anyway. You get to work and start your day.

You interact with your co-workers and clients and you start to notice something. They’re smiling at you more. They feel more comfortable around you, and you around them. You realize that you’re not stuttering or mumbling like you used to. You’re calm and relaxed. You smile and laugh and it’s not off putting to anyone.

You start to open up more about your thoughts, opinions, likes and desires. The boss asks you to make a presentation tomorrow, and while a little daunting, you feel up for the task. A group plan to go for drinks after work and they invite you to come with them. Then a crazy thing happens: You realize you don’t have scary, condemning co-workers. Quite the opposite, you’ve actually made some friends.

You go home that night and reflect on your day. It was a very good day, and you feel even better about yourself than you did when you woke up. You think maybe you’ll join that gym down the street, or start working on that novel you’ve been thinking of for years, and maybe you’ll give a little wink to the cute girl who makes your coffee tomorrow. You feel strong, happy, and proud and can’t wait to face another day!

Can you see the difference in these two scenarios?  I guarantee that these are not fiction.  MILLIONS of people every day are living some variation of each of them.  And you know what else?  It is not impossible to make the jump from scenario 1 to scenario 2.

It’s easier than you think.  It’s amazing what having strong self-esteem and confidence can do for your well being.   If you want to be able to stand up in front of hundreds of people and not feel like crawling under a rock, you can do it!  If you just want to be comfortable in social situations, you can do that too.  You don’t have to be the life of the party, but you should at least enjoy yourself at the party!

You don’t have to stay hiding in the shadows!  You don’t have to keep your thoughts to yourself!   You don’t have to feel like you’re constantly being judged!
